Great mile workout around Exhibition Park this morning with Reid and Nick, last one in Guelph. Excited to be done most of the work, feeling like race is close now! We leave Sunday evening for London, will be there two days. In London we'll get our HPC uniforms, run the 13k marathon corse loop, and get a feel for athletes village... Then off to our staging camp in Kamen, Germany for six days where all Canadian T&F athletes go before competing. It's a quite place to train and adapt to time zone, then back to London Aug 8, four days before our race. Mens marathon starts at 6amEST on the 12th, best chance to see me is at the start. Hear there's over 100 entries in our race, may be be hard to spot me?
Thanks for pic Mark & Korell

Had lots of in Antigonish this past weekend participating in the Highland Games 5Mile Road Race (article here) and a Mile race down Main St Saturday morning before a large crowd out to watch HG Parade. 5Miler was a recovery run, easy day after 90minutes of tempo day before, that workout went very well, good confidence booster going in London. I recovered in time to race the mile, 4:11.76, a close second to Dan Gorman 4:11.66. Just the week before Dan took down my NS 1500m record at the Aileen Meagher in Halifax, great season and more to come in future from him!
Check out CBC's The National tonight at 9pm on News Network or 10pm on main network, there'll be a blip on Reid and I covering our Olympic prep.
Thanks to those who voted for us Canadian New Balance Olympians (Reid, Hilary, and I) We had awesome numbers, went 1st 2nd 3rd in voting, we're loving the support, thanks everyone!

I'm heading home to Antigonish to participate in the Highland Games 5mile Road Race Friday. Originally I was hoping to race it as part of a workout, but with this big race coming up on Aug 12 have to do what's best for it, and that is a 90 minute tempo workout the day before. It's been very hot in Guelph, cooled down a bit this week so taking advantage and getting the workout in. Seeing as how the Highland Games is 149 years old I know that I will be able to have the opportunity to participate again when I can really race it. For those of you who are not "nishers" and don't know about Antigonish Highland Games it lays claim to being the oldest Continuos Highland Games outside of Scotland. Its always been a good time and worth checking out if you are in the area. There are activities and events for pretty much everyone as well as a homecoming Ceilidh aka beer tent in the town park with a couple hundred of your closest friends (or soon to be friends)
Looking forward seeing everyone there...

More workout action, yesterday morning on Arkell Rd again. I didn't lead much of this workout but Dave catches me in front here, next is steeple chaser Alex Genest (going to London), Reid, and new roadie Nick Sunseri. Did 40minutes of work averaging under 3min k's, FAST for us 42k'ers.
My best chance of extra funding for Olympic's is CAN Fund, they need a little extra help getting to their goal, I am challenging all to donate $12 for 2012 by Thursday July 12, 2012 to help clear the their waiting list that I'm on!
CAN Fund is a not for profit that raises direct financial support for athletes coast to coast. Right now there are 120 athletes who will be competing in London still on the Fund's athlete waiting list, I am one of these athletes. CAN Fund gives each athlete recipient $6,000. I am still hoping to become a CAN Fund Recipient.
