Back To The Miles

It's been five weeks since the 'Thon', and my last post,  wow how time fly's. Here's a quick summary post Houston. The first few days I was achy all over. I took advantage of any and all handrails going up and down stairs.  That cleared up quick and by Thursday I was feeling back to normal. I started back running after a two week break. The time off was nice but I kind of let go of getting good rest at the same time. Between working lots, staying up late, eating poorly, and my body trying to recover from it's first marathon I got run down.                                A week after getting back into running I caught a virus that that kept me up at night coughing. This has plateaued my mileage 80-90k the past few weeks. The last couple nights I've slept well so I should be able to crack 160k this week and get in a couple decent workouts, though they'll be far from quick.
Arkell is our 2yr old Austrian Sheppard that I do many of my morning runs with. She's good for about 10k on a cool day and a lot less in the summer. We log 30-40k a week together on the trails close to home.                                                                            It wasn't my plan when we first got Arkell to have a K9 training partner but as time went on she's become that.
